Top 5 Seal Coating FAQ’s

Here Are The Top 5 Seal Coating FAQ’s We Get Asked:

  1. Why is it important to seal coat pavement?
Seal coating should be a part of your pavement’s Preventative Maintenance Program. Spend a little now to save a LOT later.
  2. How long does seal coating last?
It depends on how old your pavement is.  Seal coating can last up to three years if your pavement is in great shape, but older asphalt may need to be redone every year.
  3. How long does it take to dry?
Depending on the humidity, it may take only 5 hours to dry, but you should wait 24 hours to really let it cure before driving any vehicles on it.
  4. What causes the most wear and tear to a seal coated asphalt surface?
In Ohio, we’ve got some extreme weather conditions, including freezing temperatures and snow in the wintertime, and the snowplowing can really take a toll on your pavement.  Also, sand, salt, water run off and severe temperature swings can all run havoc on asphalt.
  5. Can seal coating protect large cracks, or little spider cracks in pavement?
No. Seal coating won’t  seal cracks, nor will it smooth out rough asphalt surfaces. Learn more about Crack Sealing  and Repairs.
